Release of Lien Removal Service

A Release of Lien is the same thing as a lien satisfaction in the motor vehicle title industry. You will hear one of these terms often used by the DMV to explain what is needed to get a car title lien release

In recent years, Florida and other states have been using the electronic lien and title program (ELT) to add and remove a lien on a vehicle title.    When you pay off your loan that financed the purchase of your car, boat, mobile home, etc…  Afterwards, the bank or finance company will release the lien.   The type of lien your title has will depend on how it gets removed.   Paper titles with a lien can be released by the lienholder signing a lien satisfaction form.    Electronic Liens have to be removed electronically.  This is done by the lienholder’s “third party provider” that put the electronic lien on the title for them.    Electronic liens can not be removed from your Florida Title until approved and then released electronically by the lien-holder.  Unless your lien-holder is no longer in Business and the lien is over 5 years old.    To find out if your lien is electronic or paper, you can do a Florida Vin Check.   If you have sold your vehicle and need help releasing the lien, see our electronic bill of sale service to obtain a lien release.
